Lil Tjay is not actually dead The American rapper is fully healed from the terrifying shooting and is still very much alive. Born on April 30, 2001, Tione Jayden Merritt is an American rapper and vocalist better known by his stage name Lil Tjay.
A single mother gave birth to the rapper in the New York City borough of the Bronx. Lil Tjay admitted that he was a difficult child and that he frequently got into fights and robberies at school. When Tjay was 15 years old, he was once caught robbing something and was taken into custody.
Merritt started rapping while he was being held in the jail. Tjay wrote his popular rap song “Resume” there, and when he left the area, he uploaded it to SoundCloud, where it quickly gained enormous popularity. At the age of 16, Merritt started to become well-known.

Lil Tjay released five mega popular songs at the beginning of his career, “Brothers,” “Resume,” “Goat,” “Leaked,” and “None of Your Love,” which collectively received over 10 million SoundCloud plays and streams.
In the years 2020 and 2021, Merritt put out a new round of hit singles, including “Mood swings,” “Calling My Phone,” and “Headshot,” as well as albums, including “Destination 2 Win,” “Not In The Mood,” and the EP “State of Emergency.” Lil Tjay released singles in 2022 including In My Head, Lavish, Beat The Odds (which detailed his survival and healing after being shot), and Give You What You Want.
How did Lil Tjay fare?
Lil Tjay and his friend Antonio Boyd were shot on June 22, 2022, in Edgewater, New Jersey, during an attempted robbery. While his friend Antonio was only shot once, the rapper was shot seven times. Despite being shot, the perpetrator managed to escape with the aid of an unidentified accomplice.
Later, the authorities announced on Twitter that they had apprehended the criminal who had shot Lil Tjay and that his name was Mohammed Konate.
Lil Tjay’s companions Jeffery Valdez and Antoine Boyd were also charged with second-degree unauthorized possession of a weapon but were later freed. Mohammed was charged with attempted murder, armed robbery, and weapons charges. Lil Tjay was not accused of any wrongdoing.
Tjay was transported by air to Hackensack University Medical Center following the gunshot event, where he underwent emergency surgery. The rapper was then said to have passed away and was brain dead, according to numerous sources. According to some other sources, the incident caused the rapper to become paralyzed.
All of these reports, however, turned out to be wholly incorrect. Fake reports were dispelled on July 1, 2022, and the news outlets reported that Merritt was still in the hospital but “alert and talking.”

Merritt later posted a video on his social media account on August 24, 2022, explaining the entire scenario and claiming to be doing much better. The rapper proclaimed that he was “going to come back stronger than ever” in the video.
