Doctor Couple Sought to Care for Adopted Daughter

Dr. Walliul Islam and his wife, Dr. Sangeeta Datta, have been charged by Guwahati Police with torturing their adopted 3-year-old daughter for multiple months. Miguel Das Queah brought this disturbing event to light on Facebook by posting details and seeking police assistance to rescue the minor girl from abuse.

As evidenced in images that surfaced online, this couple is said to have tied their daughter onto their terrace under scorching summer temperatures. Police were then called in and managed to rescue her.

Who are Drs. Walliul Islam and Sangeeta Datta?

Reports indicate that Dr. Waliul Islam and caretaker Lakshmi Nath have been arrested, while Sangeeta Datta remains missing, although Gossipheadlines News indicates she and her husband may have been detained.

Dr. Sangeeta Datta released a video statement in which she claimed their careers are victims of an apparent conspiracy while refuting all allegations leveled against her husband and herself.

Miguel Das Queah, a child rights activist, claims that the minor girl has burn injury marks from torture administered by Dr. Waliul Islam’s couple as well as another adopted daughter from their previous union, whom he abandoned.

Assam Doctor Couple Arrested

Queah informed that Guwahati Police had taken note of this matter and received several complaints concerning a couple’s cruel treatment of their daughter. He encouraged police to intervene quickly in order to remove her from an abusive environment.

Sentimental Assam reported that initially the couple claimed the minor girl is their adopted daughter; later they admitted she is their biological offspring born from IVF procedure. Dr. Waliul Islam had also previously been accused of child abuse before appearing before Child Protection Commission where the court ruled against him.
