Mike will retire on May 5, after almost two decades entertaining viewers before sunrise!
Mike Witcher and Janelle Witcher met during The Strawberry Music Festival where they later tied the knot. Although Mike loves WBIR TV station immensely, he recently decided to pursue opportunities outside it and will leave on May 5, 2023. A native of Colorado with an undergraduate degree in journalism from University of Northern Colorado, his initial aim was becoming a reporter; instead he found his first photojournalism job and his career path altered significantly.

While Mike originally enjoyed shooting and editing stories, an opportunity presented itself for him to try his hand at weather forecasting. Although with no prior experience in this field, despite relatively little training he went back to school and enrolled in Mississippi State’s Broadcast Meteorology program. After working for WBIR as morning meteorologist beginning 2005 until joining WeatherNation TV Denver as morning meteorologist starting 2014 – an endeavor which allowed him to pursue national-scale work while staying close to family life.
A Joyful Family Man
Mike Has Two Sons In 2017, Mike decided to move back to East Tennessee, an area which he enjoyed immensely and where viewers could better get to know him. Mike and Janelle have two sons together and although Mike has yet to reveal much information regarding his family life, he seems like an enthusiastic family man.
